Bicycle Touring - Kingston to Cornwall

踏着单车去旅行，有这个念头已经很久了，也与其他几位朋友议论过，结果一拍即合。

Waterfront Trail 是一条维护极好的长道，从尼亚加拉大瀑布一直延伸到安省和魁北克省的交界处，全长近800公里，沿线风景秀丽，清波荡漾，小径蜿蜒。在去年和前年，已经两次骑行了从大瀑布到多伦多这一段；下次的旅行是东行从Kingston 到 Cornwall. ( Key Map 中6、7 这一段）。

初步计划：
时间：今年七月一日的长周末
路线：Kingston to Cornwall
夜晚露营2晚。
人数：最多6人

Day 1
From Kingston VIA Rail station to Brockville, 92km

从Kingston VIA Rail station 出发开始骑行
Address of Kingston VIA station:
1800 John Counter Blvd, K7M 3L5

在 VIA station 回合后，沿Princess St 南下进入Waterfront Trail
( Waterfront Trail Map 6-3 Downtown Kingston)

根据Waterfront Trail Map 在 Garmin MapSource画了个路线示意图：

从RIA Rail station 骑到 St. Lawrence Park (这里有campsite) 大约90公里 ( Kingston to Brockville)。

silentworld 建议骑Howe Island这一段，风景要好很多，这样，我们在20公里处南下拐入Howe Island Ferry Rd.

第一晚在St. Lawrence Park 露营。

Day 2
从Brockville to Long Sault Upper Canada Migratory Bird Sanctuary and Nature - 74KM
(Trail Map 7-4）

这一段都是沿着Waterfront Trail 骑行，地图标示清楚，也可参考hedney 网站的描述：

Day 3
From Upper Canada Migratory Bird Sanctuary and Nature to Cornwall VIA station - 35KM

Cornwall RIA Rail Station:
1650 Station Road, K6H 7E7

这样一路下来，从Kingston 到达Cornwall 大约200公里。

从Cornwall 到 Lancaster 大约40公里（Lancaster 是Waterfront Trail 的终点）。

由于要乘坐VIA 火车返回 Kingston, 查了VIA时间表，开车时间是上午11：30, 所以基本上骑行的时间是两天。

关于装备：

1，自行车：
建议用HYBRID or 宽胎公路车，最好不要用宽胎厚齿山地车。

2，Panniers (驮包）：
MEC有几款：

3，露营装备：
帐篷 or bivy sack, sleeping bag/pad
camp stove 等炊具、食物适当带些，沿途有很多的fast food, restaurants.

4，其他必备：
头盔
骑行裤
骑行手套
水瓶/水袋
车灯、备胎、补胎工具、修车工具、车铃
临行前，仔细检查、调试单车。

5，个人用品：
衣服、鞋袜
驱蚊水
first aid kit
头灯

遵守交通规则，安全第一。

关于体能训练：

1，跑步

2，两到三次长途骑行活动：
从Warden & Bloomington 到 Lake Simcoe 往返，80多公里
有上、下坡，是条不错的训练路线

Oshawa to Port Hope 往返100公里
可以坐GO train 到Oshwa, 然后沿 Waterfornt trail 东行，再折返。

Hedney的网站上对Kingston to Gananoque这一段评价一般，我觉得我们可以在这一段改道上Howe Island向北骑，虽然会增加几公里的距离，但是风景应该是好很多。

第二晚可以考虑住在Upper Canada Migratory Bird Sanctuary and Nature Campsite，这里离Cornwall大概是30km,正好最后一天早上骑到Cornwall. 在这里如果有时间我们还可以到Upper Canada Village去转转。

第二晚可以考虑住在Upper Canada Migratory Bird Sanctuary and Nature Campsite，这里离Cornwall大概是30km,正好最后一天早上骑到Cornwall. 在这里如果有时间我们还可以到Upper Canada Village去转转。

初步计划开车到kingston Via Station, 这里可以停车。
如果坐via 从union 出发的时间是6:40am，但我们错过了Via 的50% off 的优惠。

So our daily distance is about 90km, 60km, 60km? It looks like I need some serious exercise, that's not a cup of tea for everyone.

ferry是any time on demand, 只是在中午和傍晚有半个小时的lunch or dinner break.

camping 两晚，都是在Waterfront Trail 旁的campsite.

实际骑行是两天半，92km +73km+35km

VIA ticket 大家各自买吧。
另外，从Cornwall 返回Kingston 时，自行车要另加$20

我给Upper Canada Migratory Bird Sanctuary打了个电话，说我们有五六个人在July long weekend沿waterfront trail cycle touring,能不能在campsite住一晚。接电话的人还是很帮忙，说我们只需要一个camping site，应该可以给我们找到一个地方。她叫我们在trip前一两天再给他们打个电话确认一下。

看来住的问题不大。
